Tteokguk (rice cake soup) is the most iconic dish of Seollal and is the first meal eaten in the new year. It symbolizes growth and prosperity and is made with beef broth, seek (five-colored) rice cake, mandu(dumplings)seaweed, and chopped scallion & egg as garnish.
1. Pour the seasoned beef bone broth into a pot and bring to a boil. 2. Add the mandu (dumpling) and let it boil for 2 mins. 3. Add sliced tteok (rice cake) then cook until tteok is soft and chewy for atleast 1-2 mins. 4. Add sliced green onion to soup before turning the heat off. 5. Ladle the rice cake soup into individual serving & garnish with seaweed flakes, pepper, and egg strips. And you're done. Enjoy!

• Mandu (rice cake): 2 weeks • Beef bone broth: 5-7 days • Tteok (rice cake): 2-3 weeks
• If cooked, for best experience consume right away. • If uncooked, keep in the freezer
